Well…GPS is only helpful if you KNOW were your going…

I think you're being sarcastic, but I can't tell. Anyway, while this is a cautionary tale, and it might have turned out better if I made a few decisions differently, it still did a remarkable job considering the environment. I couldn't even imagine trying to get through that maze with just a paper map. It goes to show though the technology will never be perfect. I can't explain why it directed me to take the Palisades Parkway instead of continuing on the Thruway for example. All other things being equal, the route it chose would have gotten me to the airport just fine.

I would have spent the extra $ and flew in and out of Stewart Airport

Unfortunately, the last time I did that proved that to be less than ideal, especially during heavy travel season. If you recall, my flight was canceled and I had to catch a flight out of La Guardia anyway, or wait 4 or 5 days for another one out of Stewart. During Thanksgiving weekend, I might not have been able to get a seat out of LGA either this time. In addition, there are no nonstop flights to Stewart from Houston, so that adds more chances for delays or strandings. I'll fly direct to LGA or maybe even EWR from now on, thanks.

"Uh…you really spent $47.50 for ONE steak? "

No, I spent $189 for FOUR steaks...

"What you need to do is make friends with someone who runs a restaurant or works for one"

How about a relative who has a stepdaughter that works at a restaurant? Hello, friend...

Uh...you really spent $47.50 for ONE steak? Thats just insane...I never met a steak I DIDN'T like, granted some were not cooked to my liking, some fattier than I would like etc. but they ALL taste good...

What you need to do is make friends with someone who runs a restaurant or works for one were the owner is willing to order and sell you at wholesale that same USDA choice beef for half the price of what sams club charges you.

When Jen was working for the restaurant (although she is again on a part time basis) I was getting NY strip steaks either cut to order or the whole thing to cut myself for $2.19 a pound...we ate a lot of steaks...
